Weighing the Benefits of Whey Protein

Shop Now for Weight Lifting Fitness Equipment
Whey protein is one of the highest quality proteins around and is considered a complete protein source. It makes up about 20% of the protein that is found in milk and other dairy products. Open up a cup of yogurt and the liquid you see floating at the top is whey. Whey is that "stuff" that you mix in with the actual solid consistency underneath.

Whey protein supplements are quite popular in the world of bodybuilding and health and fitness. Whey protein is one of the best protein supplements for building muscle because it is digested, absorbed and utilized by the body more than other protein supplements. And, if you are physically active, whey may be the way to go to achieve the fit body for which you are striving. However, if you are sedentary and do not really lead an active life, you may be doing more harm than good  by indulging in a daily protein shake  The benefits of whey protein drinks are good for those who are physically active and who do not have kidney or renal disease or diabetes.

Open Here for More Whey Protein Powder Supplements
Besides helping to build muscle mass, the two main benefits of taking a whey protein supplement are the amino acids and antioxidants that it provides. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and whey protein is considered a complete source of protein because it contains all 20 of the essential amino acids (EEAs) that the body can't produce on its own. Amino acids help to build lean muscle mass while promoting fat loss. Of course, antioxidants give a boost to the immune system.

There are several sources of whey protein available in the form of protein powders drinks as bodybuilding supplements and fitness nutrition drinks. Like everything in life, moderation is key to maintaining good health and wellness. Please consult your physician before engaging in a weight loss plan or rigorous fitness and bodybuilding regime with any protein powder.

Berry Good For You - The Beauty of the Berry

Eating healthy during the summer seems to be quite easy, especially with all the fresh fruits that are available. Berries are definitely the highlight right now and are ripe for the picking. Blueberries, raspberries and blackberries are deliciously sweet right now, and they provide healthy nutrients and antioxidants for your good health.

Blueberries are preciously plump and packed full of essential nutrients for optimal health. One serving of blueberries provide14 mg of vitamin C, which gives you 25% of the daily requirement. Vitamin C helps promote healthy gums and capillaries. It also helps the body absorb iron and it boosts immunity. Blueberries also help provide the dietary fiber that your body needs so they help to keep your body regular, thus eliminating all the unhealthy stuff in the body. Blueberries also help keep the heart healthy and the cholesterol in check. My favorite thing about blueberries is the high antioxidant activity they that works to defend against free radical damage.

Raspberries are making a strong comeback recently with news about health benefits of raspberry ketones. Mostly, these raspberries contain a healthy serving of minerals suck as potassium, copper, iron and magnesium. Potassium helps to control heart rate and blood pressure and Copper is required in the production of red blood cells. (Please read my blog from Friday on the benefits and necessities of a magnesium rich diet). This wonderfully red and delicious fruit is rich in Vitamin B-complex and Vitamin K which work together to help the body metabolize carbohydrates, proteins and fats. As an antioxidant to prevent against free radical damage and aging, this non-guilt delicacy can actually help you stay fit.  Finally, the ever popular raspberry ketone supplements are found to help weight loss efforts in combination with health supplements such as green tea, acai berry, and resveratrol.

When we say "blackberry" let's think of "beauty". It's true, the tasty blackberry fruit is really useful in helping to maintain the beauty of our skin. Polyphenol packed and vitamin E excellent, blackberries help to prevent cell damage from free radicals, thus maintaining firm and young looking skin. Eating blackberries will also give an immunity boost because of the dose of vitamin C they provide. Finally, providing the substance tannin is another benefit of the blackberry. Tannin in blackberries helps blood to coagulate and cuts to heal quickly; another selling point for kids' health supplements and benefits.

What are you waiting for? Grab a bowl and head into the woods or pack your market bag and head for the organic produce section. Get going and get healthy this summer with the amazing benefits and beauty of the berry.

Magnesium is the essential mineral that our bodies crave and need; however, it is one that most people do not get enough of in their daily diet. Magnesium is crucial to creating a number of enzymes required for healthy functioning of the body.  If you eat an average American diet that includes any junk food you probably lack magnesium. If you are deficient in Magnesium you may even recognize the following symptoms :

  • Sleeplessness and Trouble Waking up Refreshed
  • Muscle Pain and Joint Stiffness ( Arthritis as well)
  • Stress and Irritability
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Migraine Headaches

Although this is a very short list of magnesium deficiency symptoms, you can see how the lack of magnesium in our diet can cause our quality of life to be negatively affected. In order to combat these symptoms and heal your body consider taking Magnesium supplements  Starting magnesium therapy is just the beginning of good health and a better quality of life. Magnesium chloride is considered a naturally calming mineral, and when added to a cup of tea before bedtime provides for more restful sleep.  Epsom salt ( Magnesium Sulfate) poured into a warm bath helps to heals muscle pains and injuries. I like to spray Magnesium Oil on my knee joints and calf muscles before and after working out to prevent and relieve any pain I may feel. Taken for while, the healing really kicks in and all joint pain disappears. The benefit of transdermal therapy applied right to the skin is fast absorption. Magnesium supplements before or during a bronchitis or asthma attack help the smooth chest muscle to relax. I have also researched and experienced that it reduces the levels of histamine in your blood if you are suffering from an allergic reaction in your respiratory tract or externally on the skin.  PMS symptoms such as bloating, breast tenderness, irritability and fatigue are less obvious while increasing your Magnesium intake. And, research suggests that Magnesium is now being used to relieve Migraine headaches because it is a natural pain killer.

I have found that the importance and health benefits of taking this magnificent supplement called Magnesium are numerous. Here are a couple simple ways you too can add this supplement to your healthy lifestyle for optimal health. For quick and long term pain relief of muscles, joints and arthritis, try spraying Magnesium Oil on the body parts that are tender. Keep up this routine for long term healing benefits. The spray may itch your skin at first if you are sensitive to it, and the aloe helps with this.  For a good night's rest and relief from fatigue, stress and irritability dissolve a teaspoon of Magnesium citrate powder in a cup of warm water each night and drink before going to sleep. For good energy and a better mood all day long, take Magnesium Chloride tablets. Remember to enjoy Magnesium rich foods such as spinach, almonds, black beans and halibut fish.

Fitness Equipment That Fits Your Home and Your Style

If you are dedicated to working out and you find it difficult to make it to the gym each day, bring your workout home with your own fitness equipment.  The benefits of building a home gym are numerous. Home workout routines on your personal exercise equipment fit YOUR schedule and your style because they are accessible to you whenever you want to workout. There is no waiting in line for the next elliptical, and no having to wipe the piece of equipment down with disinfectant. Put away the ipod and pull out the DVDs and memories that you stashed away over the years. Have fun remembering and working out to 80s and 90s music while getting into shape.

There are several options to consider when creating your own home gym with exercise equipment. Fitness enthusiasts have different styles and there is an exercise machine for everyone.  If you are a cardio king or queen, you may want only those pieces of equipment that give you the best calorie burn.  For instance, the treadmill is a very popular fitness equipment staple because you can literally walk and burn calories for hours. Treadmills are relatively easy to fit in any room because they have a straight line profile and can be put against a wall. For smaller spaces, consider the treadmill that folds up easily and that can be stashed away in a corner. Elliptical trainers provide a great workout for firming the gluteus muscles and creating that sexy Brazilian body appearance.

Weight lifting machines are a bit bulky, but they do offer a lot of flexibility by providing different strength training exercises that build muscle.  If simplicity is your style, grab a pair of weight lifting gloves and invest in a simple system with free weights, lifting bars or dumb bells.

Shop Here for Pilates and Yoga Equipment

Yoga and Pilates are both great ways to stretch, strengthen your core and relieve stress in the comfort of your home gym.  Performing pilates exercises such as the hundreds and seal on your own clean floor is a good feeling. Practicing pilates with equipment accelerates the workout, so purchase a pair of Arm Rings or a Pilates Magic Circle to tone, build and tighten arms and legs. Abdominal exercises are great fun with simple fitness equipment such as the ab toner. Grab a balance ball and tone your entire body while doing plank or push up exercises.

Whatever your fitness style, find the equipment that fits comfortably in your home and that gives you the best results to help you achieve your fitness goals.

Beach Energy is Good For Your Health

Shop Here for Fitness Clothes for Men and Women
What is beach energy? I am not speaking of running on the beach or jumping waves with the kids, although the ocean waves do have something to do with this type of energy. I am highlighting a different kind of energy that works in conjunction with the weekly workout routine to strengthen the body. If you have ever heard of "negative ions" then you may be familiar with what I am calling "beach energy".  Negative ions provide a different kind of energy, a positive energy that works to balance us out and to improve our overall health. Negative Ions essentially help to counteract the damage that positive ions are doing.

What are Positive Ions?

Our health may be compromised by daily activities that inundate us with positive ions. These positive ions make their way into our bodies mainly through modern day technology such as cell phone and computer usage and playing electronic games. More subtle sources of toxins include cell phone towers (have you notice how many there are now? You can hardly miss them these days) and satellites. Everyday activities such as microwaving, blowing hair dry, and just being in a room with a transmitting television are all sources of these positive ions.  These things are creating energy toxicity in and all around us, thus weakening our bodies, our health and our immunity.

Negative Ions are Good for Us

Click Here to Purchase Supplements for Healing
One way to counter balance the effects of positive ion toxicity on our health is to introduce our bodies to negative ions. The beach is a great place to do this now that it is Summer. The actual crash of a wave onto the shoreline releases negative ions into the air. The more time we spend at the ocean the more exposure we get to these negative ions, and the better balanced our bodies become. Negative ions may help our bodies become stronger, more flexible and able to function at an optimal level of performance. Negative ions may contribute to increased energy, better mental focus, and more restful sleep. Consider them nature's antioxidants.

So grab a towel and a stylish beach cover-up and head for the beach. The ocean awaits you with a natural remedy for your total health and wellness.

A Healthy Smile is Stylish

It is Stylish to have great oral hygiene, healthy gums and pretty white teeth. There is no excuse with all of the products out there that help you to maintain a fashionably beautiful healthy smile.  Of course bi- annual dental check ups are key to oral fitness, but did you know there are plenty of things you can do at home to brighten and freshen your smile?  Here is a simple list of stylish ways to keep fit with your daily oral hygiene habit, naturally of course.  Remember, Antioxidants are essential to healthy teeth and gums.

To Keep Teeth White - Without the Chemical Bleaches

  • Bite into apples, celery and carrots on a daily basis to naturally remove stain.
  • Go for the greens such as spinach, broccoli and lettuce as they create a film over teeth that serves as a stain barrier.
  • Swish with water after consuming high staining foods and drinks such as blueberries, red wine tomato sauce, and tea.

To Freshen Breath - Put down the mouthwash

  • Pick (up) Parsley, Basil or Cilantro - They all contain the green plant pigment called chlorophyll, which is a powerful breath freshener.
  • Dig Dill - Chew the seeds or mash the leaves and make an afternoon tea or beverage.
  • Chew Cardamom seeds and Spit - They contains cineole which is a potent antiseptic that kills bad-breath bacteria.
  • Peppermint - Pummel halitosis with a cup of Peppermint tea or chew on a sprig from your herb garden

For Great Looking Gums - Increase your Vitamin intake and Swish with Aloe Vera Juice

  • Vitamin C - Helps to repair connective tissues and accelerate bone regeneration. Great sources of Vitamin C for better oral hygiene include grapefruit, oranges, mangos and cantaloupe. Or, try Vitamin C Supplements.
  • Vitamin D - Has anti-inflammatory properties that may help to reduce gum disease. Get your D from the Sun OR at take a Vitamin D supplement with at least 200 iu.
  • CoQ10 -Take it as a health supplement because it has powerful antioxidant properties needed to properly repair gum tissue.
  • Organic Aloe Vera Juice - Swish with "thish" instead of the mouthwash 2 x a day and let the healing begin!
